The LIVEN Lofi-12 features a retro sampling engine with a 12bit Sampler mode that can turn any sound into a pleasing lo-fi tone. Much like the legendary samplers of the late 80s, this device produces a genuine low-bit and low sampling frequency sound that cannot be authentically replicated with modern bit crusher effects and sound degradation tools. It offers up to 4 seconds of mono sampling per sample slot (2 seconds in the 24kHz mode), with capabilities for start/end point trimming, pitch adjustment, reverse playback, sustain loop, filtering, and LFO modulation.

Sounds sampled on the LIVEN Lofi-12 are automatically assigned to the keyboard, allowing for easy chromatic playback at different pitches. This enables the recreation of the gritty, lo-fi tones often heard in 90s hip-hop, where 33RPM vinyl was sampled at 45RPM and then slowed down. 88 carefully selected lo-fi preset sounds are included to kickstart your creative process.

Powering the LIVEN Lofi-12 is a powerful 4-track step sequencer that allows you to easily construct multi-part compositions. The Sound Lock function makes it simple to switch between sampled sounds for each phrase or sequencer step, unlocking an almost infinite combination of sonic possibilities within a single song.

To add further character, the Laid-back knob can be used to delay the start of selected sampled sounds, like slightly shifting the timing of a snare drum in a beat pattern. Each of the 4 tracks also has access to 11 different effects from the LIVEN series, with parameters that can be automated using the Parameter Lock function.

Beyond the track-level effects, the LIVEN Lofi-12 provides 9 high-quality master effects, including 6 reverbs, a Cassette Tape Simulator, Vinyl Simulator, and a Remix performance effect. The send amount of these master effects can be adjusted for each track during the mixing process.

The latest version 2.0 firmware expands the creative capabilities of the LIVEN Lofi-12 even further. New features include Resampling, which allows for real-time recording of patterns and tracks into new samples, and Chopping, which introduces two new voice modes ("Drum" and "Chop") that automatically slice samples using a Downbeat Divider algorithm. These sliced samples are then spread across the keyboard, enabling expressive finger drumming performances.

Finally, a Remix Effect called "R.MIX" has been added to the master effects, enabling glitchy real-time performances that are not constrained by the internal step sequencer grid. These new features are designed to work seamlessly together, empowering users to create dynamic, evolving drum tracks and resample their results for endless sound design possibilities.

The LIVEN Lofi-12 is a compact, battery-powered device with a built-in speaker, allowing you to play and produce anywhere. Measuring 11.7 x 6.92 x 1.89 inches and weighing 1.74 lbs, it comes with an overlay sheet for sampling and editing, though the AC adapter and batteries are not included.
